In 1983, Skyway set out to build a BMX frame and fork kit that was like no other on the market. They mixed incredible style with strength and function, and the T/A was born! They used specially-made tear-drop shaped aero 4130 Cr-Mo tubing to construct their frameset, and they changed the sport of BMX racing!
Fast forward to 2011, and Skyway once again brought back the T/A. To adapt to modern BMX riding, Skyway built a new T/A frameset, still using the same tear-drop shaped aero tubing, and added more strength to it by increasing the thickness of the tubing slightly, as well as the frame and fork dropouts. This new 2023 model T/A features everything that you love about Skyway, while making it strong to handle today's BMX riding!
Here is the first T/A 20" complete bike ever to be made by Skyway! This version is a retro-throwback to the 1980's with it's 1" threaded fork, American bottom bracket, and uses a Dia-Compe MX-1000 caliper brake. It's 21.5" long top tube will fit adult riders very comfortably!
Most complete bikes sold by other brands will use cheaper-made parts to mantain a lower price-point. Skyway wanted to make certain that each and every part on this bike was right, so they built this using name-brand parts! You'll find American-made Skyway Tuff Wheels with sealed bearing alloy-flanged hubs, as well as Skyway bars, seatpost, and seat. For the drivetrain, Redline Flight cranks and sprocket are stock items, as well as a sealed bottom bracket for smooth pedaling! Japanese-made MKS pedals, as well as Japanese Tange sealed bearing headset as also stock on this bike! To sum it up- this bike comes with some of the best parts you can get! Due to Australian consumer law, this bike may come with a complementary front brake, bell, chainguard, and reflector set. The front brake is a basic caliper brake, and does not match the Dia Compe rear brake. If you would like to add a front brake that matches, we do sell the Dia Compe MX-1000 brake on our website.
These are not exact copies of the original TA completes or even frames. That would be disrespectful to the collectors out there who do have the original TA Frames. These are 2022 made frames built using the same teardrop TA tubing as in the 1980’s, however there are slight changes. We have redesigned these frames from the 2012 re-release, back closer to the way they were in the 80’s. The 20” version now features a 21.5”TT, full Chromoly teardrop T/A Tubing, 1” Threaded fork steerer, USA BB set, side pull calliper brake mounts and a 25.4mm seatpost tube. The T/A fork and Handlebar are also full Chromoly. Each bike is a numbered product to give this new complete, a mystique of its own. It will never be a genuine original 80’s model, but will be an affordable collector bike, or a fun retro all day get around bike.
