We here at PlanetBMX love this bike! This is an e-bike like no other, really. This is the bike to keep in your garage for when you don't want to take the car out and want to be outdoors instead for local traveling! The Haro Johnny 5 is inspired by the legendary Haro Freestyler with it's double top tubes, and has the power to keep you pedaling at a steady 20mph to get where you want to go quickly! You can pedal this bike just like a traditional bike, but the pedal-assist motor keeps you moving quick! The motor has 5 speed levels which is easily adjusted on the handlebar-mounted display. It also has a throttle feature, so you can maintain your speed while not pedaling!
This bike is amazingly fun! I have owned mine for over a year now, and it's great for longer rides. Instead of driving 15 miles to my favorite beach spot, I just ride this there now! Leave the car, and take the e-bike! This bike will also handle hills, and steep bridges with no issues! We're talking maintaining 18-20mph easily while sitting on your seat riding a steep hill! I've customized mine with a few frame bags to store the battery charger and tools, and still have space for my phone and keys!
This advertised battery range is 28 miles, which you can get more out of by simply pedaling more often than just coasting. Whenever I do a longer ride- a 25 mile trip up to one of my lunch spots, once there I'll plug in the battery to re-charge for an hour or so, and that usually gets the battery back to 100% for that ride back! Overall, I enjoy this bike much more than I initially thought I would! It's opened up new possibilities on where to ride to! And on a hot day, that 20mph speed keeps the breeze going on your face! This bike is hands down one of my favorite toys!
